11.24.2006 - Hey there! It's been a few years...I'm currently
living in Las Vegas and working for Cirque du Soleil as an
acrobat in the show KA (at MGM). I feel very lucky to be getting
paid doing something related to the sport I grew up doing
and loved so much! Also, I have just completed my second ironman
distance triathlon here in Las Vegas. My dad did this race
with me and I'm proud to say that he, too, is also now an
ironman! Contact me if you're coming to Vegas and I can give
you a backstage tour or show you some great hikes and great
cycling rides!
5.17.2004 - Hey Everyone! Just a quick update and an example
of another opportunity that has come about from my involvement
in gymnastics: I am currently living in Tokyo working for
a company that provides kids the chance to get some physical
activity in a fun atmosphere. In particular, I'm helping to
start a gymnastics/athletics class for it. If anyone happens
to be heading to Japan, contact me! This summer, I'm cycling
across the United States with a non-profit group called Bike
and Build. We'll be raising money and awareness for affordable
housing. (If you are interested in making a tax-deductible
donation in support of me, go to http://www.bikeandbuild.org/About%20Us/donate.html
It will be much appreciated!!). Then next fall, I'll either
be heading back to Tokyo or starting my Health Promotion program
at UNLV. Hope everyone is doing great!
9.5.2003 - Hello everyone! It has been awhile since I last
wrote, so I figured I`d give an update. But first, it`s great
to read everyone`s updates and hear what you are all up to,
and congratulations to those who have married, are getting
married, have had a baby or two, and/or are expecting!! So,
I graduated in `02 with a BA in Human Biology (as did Jensy),
but decided to stick around for another year to get a masters
in rual and Social Anthropology. During that year, I kept
myself busy by working for the team, coaching little kids,
and working in the athletic department. In addition, I joined
the triathlon club and competed in my first Olympic distance
triathlon with the Stanford Club last April. (I think I was
going through gym withdrawal and did as much as I could so
I wouldn`t miss it!) After graduating this past June, I drove
across the country with my mom, and then I headed up to Montreal
to spend time with my boy, Jason, who`s training for Cirque
du Soleil. It`s been fun living with people (many ex-gymnasts)
from all over the world training for the circus. While Jason
has been training, I`ve been exploring and getting to know
the city, which is filled with tons of parks and bikeways.
Also, the people are really nice and very active and I am
enjoying trying to use French. Next week, after my first attempt
at an off-road triathlon in Vermont, I`m heading to Boston
to visit Jensy along with Kendall, who`s coming for the week
too. Then in October, we`ll be moving to Las Vegas and hopefully
Jason will have a contract with the show, O! I plan on finding
a job for the year, then heading back to school at UNLV for
a Masters in Health Promotion. That`s the plan for now, but
it`s always open to changes!! One final update: My oldest
sister, Laura, has just put her daughter, Blaire, in gymnastics
classes at Parkettes and she`s loving it!! I hope everyone
is doing well and has had a great summer!
9.30.2000 - Hey guys! I'm now a junior at Stanford! I can't
believe how fast the first two years went. I'm majoring in
Human Biology, and am also going to try and minor in Architecture,
but am not sure if I'll fit that in. I'm having so much fun
here and am so happy Jensy's here with me. I was so excited
to see Parkettes in Sydney, way to go Maloney! I miss the
Parkette family and hope everyone is doing well!
