MISSION
Mission Statement
Parkettes are organized for the purpose of providing all boys and girls, regardless of age, financial, mental, or physical ability, the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of gymnastics while becoming part of our family of athletes. Toward that end, the officers, directors, staff, and volunteers are committed to:
- Programs that cover the entire range of youth and their development, beginning with pre-school classes, with the opportunity for advancement to team programs through which young athletes may ultimately gain national, international, and Olympic recognition.
- Programs for children who have special physical, mental or emotional needs so they may gain physical benefits and inner confidence through the sport of gymnastics.
- An environment to experience the importance of physical fitness, including strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination, and the value of a disciple.ined training regiment that enhances any athletic endeavor.
- A learning experience with emphasis on the values of responsibility, competitiveness, dedication, and goal setting, which can be retained throughout adulthood.
- A community resource that promotes the Lehigh Valley by increasing its exposure nationally and internationally.
- Exhibitions for schools, service organizations, and community events to promote public awareness of the importance of physical fitness, and to offer positive role models to aid in the social development of area youth.
- The resources to aid young gymnasts striving for a berth on the Olympic Team, a college scholarship, or simply valuable self-esteem.
What is a Parkette?
A Parkette is any one of the family of kids, ages 1 and up, who learns to believe in themselves and grows physically and emotionally while participating in one of the many gymnastics programs at the Parkettes. It may be Kristen Maloney, 1998 & 1999 USA National Senior Champion and 2000 Olympian or Kristal Uzelac, 1999, 2000 & 2001 USA National Junior Champion; or Michael Gaal, Special Olympics Hall of Fame Inductee; or one of the many boys and girls building self esteem through gymnastics. They all have dreams ... we are here to help them reach them.
Providing an opportunity for all young athletes to reach the Parkettes’ goal – "to be the best you can be."
