Fun Facts
- In 2018 Parkettes will celebrate their 50th year of fulfilling their commitment to excellence, encouraging the youth of today through fun and fitness.
- Parkettes began in a backyard in 1968, moved to a barn, the basement of a church, and then to the upstairs of Symphony Hall. The current facility opened its doors in 1981 and still continues to grow.
- Parkettes broke ground in March 2002, adding 8,000 square feet to our current facility, which now encompasses 32,000 sq. feet of state of the art recreational and competitive gymnastics equipment.
- Parkettes modern facility includes the latest gymnastics equipment and continually updates equipment to maintain our high standard of excellence.
- Parkettes provides the finest gymnastics training in the Lehigh Valley. Classes begin with You & Me, Kinder gym, and Recreational boys’ and girls’ programs. In addition, specialty programs include Cheer-nastics and Extreme Ninja. The opportunity exists to be a part of the Parkettes Team, where young athletes may ultimately gain national, international, and Olympic recognition.
- Parkettes offers outreach programs for children with special needs including Special Olympics, Mercy Learning Center. We are proud of our scholarship program which allows for more children to experience the sport of gymnastics.
- Parkettes coaching staff is comprised of some of this country’s most experienced and dedicated instructors totaling of more than 350 years of coaching experience.
- Parkettes Donna and Bill Strauss were inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1989.
- Parkettes has had a total of 19 girls who have qualified to Olympic Trials resulting in 5 Olympic Team Members and 1 Olympic Team Alternate, 10 World Championship Team members, a 3 time Jr. National Champion, FIG World Cup Series Champion, American Cup AA Champion, Pacific Rim AA Champion, Goodwill Games Team Members, Pan American Games Team members and numerous Pennsylvania State Team Titles, just to name a few.
- Parkettes gymnasts total 203 years as members of the USA Gymnastics National Team.
- Parkettes is proud of the 160 gymnasts who have received college scholarships to some of the top college and universities in the country.
- Parkettes provides a variety of in-house programs including Kindergym Play Days, Lunch Time Flip Zone, Field Trips, Open Gym Time, Sleepovers, Gymnastics and Tumbling clinics, and more.
- Parkettes hosts fun filled birthday parties offering 1 hour of activity and hour of table time.
- Parkettes travels to over 20 nursery schools and day care centers to instruct children on the fundamentals of gymnastics. We currently have two “Parkettes Vans” to transport our satellite program also providing physical education activities to the Lehigh Valley Arts Academy Charter School.
- Parkettes offers an enrichment program for children 3-6 years of age. This program is designed to enhance the “whole child” through a wide variety of activities including creative play through music, fitness fun, story time, crafts, and more.
